as orissa burnt due to communal violence and dastardly attacks on churches and christians continued, our america returned chief minister was busy fiddling the violin.

but when it comes to being in the pocket books of industries, he seems to be much more alert as his state police arrested the anti posco protest leader abhay sahu.

and posco india managing director seems to be a really funny guy.
At an international seminar on steel-making this year, Posco India managing director Soung Sik Cho said people needed to open their eyes to the possibilities the steel plant could offer them.

he is right. mining in jagatsinghpur will bring,
* displacement
* air, water and ground pollution
* begging in the streets of
bhubaneswar
* loss of land including fertile agricultural land

well, in india, all of the above is called 'development'. development for the rich and destruction for the poor.

let's look at some of george w. bush' legacy and how he is 'lovvveed' by the prime minister of india. i think american people are in no love at all with their own leader.

1. started a fake war in iraq.
2. had no worth environmental track record to speak for.
3. let loose regulation of commodities and financial industries wrecking havoc.
4. was in deep slumber till the financial system was on the verge of collapse.
5. huge mess created in firing of US attorney's and repeated misdoings of his chief attorney general.
6. without trial holding several hundreds people in guantanamo bay.
7. ran an administration that seems to be taking back america to 19th century rather than being 21st century leader.

and last but not the least, signed a nuclear treaty with india, when his own country has not had a new nuclear power plant in 30 years.

and our honorable 'developedment' oriented prime minister hugs him and says 'the people of india loves you'. well dear prime minister i think you are wrong. you may love W as you are in same category of pursuing fake policies, but majority of india's coastal area people, ecosystem people, marginalsied and discarded tribal people are not in that 'love category'.

i was caught up in the whirpool of financial messs that is sweeping the world. as i tried to balance my sudden heavy work, catching up on the obama-mccain campaign, reading up and coming to speed on the financial mess, this blog took a back seat.

i hope to be regular from today posting as usual.

but as a parting shot, you have to wonder. wonder about the 'zero govt, less govt' crowd that was craving for more and more of de regulation.

when govt steps back from correct regulation and proper enforcement, when govt steps back from education its poorest sections, when govt steps back from providing proper health care for its citizens, the result will be a huge mess.

why do we elect a government, if all the government is going to do to be in the pocketbooks of wall street and industry wallah's, who are greedy day in and day out.

as india destroys its ecosystems and tribals and marginalised people in name of fake development, it can learn mighty lessons from the greedy wall street that destroyed all foundations of basic economics in its quest to be 'innovative' and 'more developed'!!!!

when it comes to rich wall street titans, socialism means more money from the government, capitalism means less regulation from the government!!!!
