vowww...how bad and fake can 'development of india' go. it can go as bad and fake as the development of orissa.

tehelka has put an article that describes how bad can this maniac push towards 'development' can take.

some snippets from the article,

ORISSA’S FRAGILE ecosystem, sustaining some of the most endangered species on the planet, is collapsing under the weight of relentless industrialisation. Even as Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was promising in New Delhi that agricultural land would not be acquired for setting up Special Economic Zones (SEZs), Industry Minister Biswabhusan Harichandan said in Bhubaneswar that farmers would have to make “sacrifices” for the state’s development. The Orissa Pollution Control Board has declared that ground water in vast areas of the state is severely contaminated and fast depleting, and that water in six major rivers is now unfit for human use. In a recent report, the Board has declared that rivers Mahanadi, Bramhani, Rusikulyaa, Nagabali, Subarnekha and Baitarani have lost their natural cleansing systems and are unfit for drinking.

the entire story paints a sad picture of how bad can development go. and leading the pack is the america returned politician chief minister of orissa who has made the word 'reckless' a meaningless word.
(Demonstration in Front of Orissa Pollution Control Board by People affected by the proposed mining of Malangtoli, Keonjhar, by Orissa Sponge Iron Limited in nov 2005. in orissa, tribal people, farmers, ecosystem and wildlife has no meaning to their america returned politician who is hell bent on destroying every inch of the state in name of 'development'. )
