there was some positive news on the beleaguered urban bangalore environment front. the hindu reports that the Forest Department has proposed that all the 114 lakes within the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike limits be declared “reserve forests” under the Karnataka Forest Act, 1963.

urban water bodies in bangalore and in other cities have been abused, misused, toileted and toxicated for many decades and the direct penalty of this is increasing pressure on rural rivers so that water can be sucked in to urban areas (at great cost) from far away off.

preserving urban area lakes as viable water bodies is super important in case india's chaotic urban area people wants any sort of decent living. if they want maniac 'development', of course they can always continue like now and get up at morning 4 AM for the water lorry to give them the water!!!.
